Tiger Jalapeno
A mild Jalapeno variety (Cap. annuum) that starts out black and turns bright red once matured. Heat level and flavour are largely indistinguishable from a regular Jalapeno, but are described as slightly sweeter with walls that aren't quire as thick as the regular Jalapeno. You will not only love this pepper for its flavour but also for the beautiful colours on leaves and pods during the ripening process.
It is an Italian cross between a Jalapeno and a Purple Tiger. This sturdy plant has a long fruiting season thanks to its stable Jalapeno genes. Simultaneously, it sports a beautiful green-white-purple variegated foliage inherited from the Purple Tiger, also known as Trifetti. The Purple Tiger was developed by unknown growers in Italy and is popular for its ornamental value but the bitter flavour is not everyone's cup of tea - hence, the benefit of crossing it with the Jalapeno to get the best of both worlds.
