Aji Pineapple
A delicious, fruity Cap. baccatum variety that is great for cooking and sauces. These will have the best chance to mature to a bright yellow in a warm envoronment and have a high yield given the right conditions. It is often compared to its similar sister pepper, the Lemon Drop - a marginally milder pepper that is also said to be slightly less sweet. We love both of these delicious varieties as they fill the room with a beautiful, fruity capsicum aroma when cut into.
Aji is often misunderstood as a classification of its own but it's merely a name for many peppers in mostly South and Central America. The classification is most commonly but not exclusively represented by the baccatum species. The plant grows very bushy with numerous long branches that will often bend over time under the weight of a high number of pods. The Aji Pineapple fruit will initially point upwards but drop over time, hence the name Cap. baccatum var. pendulum, Latin for hanging which stands in contrast to the Cap. baccatum var. baccatum, its wild parent with smaller pea-sized pods.
